The History of the Wedding Dress

Custom made wedding dresses are the traditional wedding attire for much of Western society. But across the globe, there are as many different styles of wedding dress as there are styles of ceremony. Here are a few of the alternatives seen across the world, many of them are derivatives of the formal wear seen in the countries and cultures listed.

Well, when I say white, I mean more like ivory really. Because most of the dresses were made of silk, and silk couldn’t survive the harsh chemicals and techniques they used. The shape was all about the confining corset. With high waists and high necks, the wedding dress was the height of propriety and virgin chic. Long sleeves were also expected – bare arms were not allowed in church. (Today, the same rules apply in Westminster Abbey, which is why every royal bride has kept them covered – including most recently Kate.)

The native American alternatives to custom made wedding dresses are more culturally specific and vary between the different groups. Wedding clothing tends to be hand-woven and decorated in ribbon-work and beads. In England, custom made wedding dresses are the order of the day for women, while morning suits are the standard formal dress for men – often finished off with a top Designer Evening Dresseshat. For Scottish grooms, the kilt has become fashionable in some circles, although there is a move amongst many young couples to avoid the tackiness associated with the ‘national dress’.

Paris and Hollywood shaped the wedding dresses of the thirties. The Paris designer Vionnet pioneered willowy simplicity by inventing the bias cut. Elegant and geometric panelled dresses followed – Designer Evening Dresseslong, slim columns of draped silk, satin and chiffon. And for the first time the backless dress was flirted with. The great Depression wasn’t so great. People need escapism. And Hollywood provided it by the cinema loads. Scarlet O’Hara reignited the Victorian love of the floor-skimming, princess style, satin skirt with tight bodice. (And it’s never really gone away since.)

Moreover, many brides are unaware that some wedding dresses come with options. For instance, you can request that some embellishments, like beading and bows, be removed. Particularly if you use the same designer, you may even be able to use the bodice from one dress and the skirt of another. No matter what you prefer, just stay calm and enjoy browsing all those gorgeous wedding dresses.

How Good Credit Rating Can Secure Your Financing Chances

A good credit rating is invaluable when trying to get a loan for a home, car or personal use. Without it you may have trouble getting a reasonable interest rate and end up paying more through the life of the loan or bad credit may prevent you from getting a loan at all.

Before you start home shopping, get a copy of your credit report and score. It’s vital to know where you stand before you find your dream home. That way, if your score is less than ideal you can take steps to improve it before applying for a loan.

Fortunately, if you credit rating isn’t stellar there are ways you can improve it. Probably the easiest way to boost your credit rating is to pay off any credit cards that are carrying a balance. Also, stay up to date with all of your loans.

Take action to better your credit for about six months before applying for a financing. It takes at least this long to show improvements to your credit score and for your positive actions to take effect.

Increasing your credit score is your goal because it will directly impact the rate you receive on a mortgage. Achieving the lowest possible interest rate is vital to get you a low monthly payment and to save money over time.

If your credit rating is low enough a lender may deny your loan application completely. Or you may be given a loan but it may require an extremely large down payment and provide you with a very high interest rate.

Should you miss payments and default on your loan it will cause severe damage to your credit rating. So, before you take steps to acquire a loan, you should evaluate whether you have the means to pay off the loan.

After you’ve received a mortgage take it very seriously. Make all of your payments on time so that your credit rating continues to improve. Late penalties will cost you money and points on your credit score.

Besides personal finance advice, the author also frequently writes regarding toner ink cartridges and acrylic paint pens.

Can Making Dreams Come True Be As Easy As Brushing Our Teeth

What if making dreams come true is just so easy? Can we let go of our doubts? Is it possible? How can we do it so magically so that it is as easy as brushing our teeth? This excerpt from ONE Book by Masami Sato shows us exactly how to do it step-by-step, preparing you to start walking towards your dreams today.

All of us have dreams. But all of us do not have faith in ourselves so that we can have those dreams and live them in our lifetime. In fact, the secret to have such assuredness is simple. And the reason why we hesitate so much is also straightforward.

Let’s begin with the first question that we can ask ourselves

Why don’t we do the things we want to do?

Often, our thoughts stop our actions. Sometimes the more we think about it, the less we become committed to accomplish what we initially wanted to do. Because the more we think about it, we come up with more and more reasons for not doing it.

Then is it possible that one can be certain that one will definitely accomplish what one wants to do in his life?

Sure, absolutely! To start with, let us look at the power of habits

If we have to be present at a meeting tomorrow night, we would not be spending too much of time thinking whether we would be able to get there or not. We would not be worried about the possibility of having a car accident and failing to attend the meeting. In fact, when we go to use the toilet, we are unlikely to worry if it might be out of order.

We are always more assured about these day-to-day activities that happen every day. These are the habits.

However, we are doubtful about our dreams

Most interestingly, there are plenty of things we are not equally sure about. Particularly the things that we really want to in life – our Dreams!

So, what is the secret for the assurance that we will realize our dreams?

First: Decide to make it a daily habit!

We can start being more certain about our actions to meet our desires-the type of desires that really nourishes our life.

So, for example, if your dream is to give and contribute to society and giving is a key desire in your life, there is no reason to doubt that it’s possible for you to contribute to others. It can just become one of your daily habits.

Second: Try to make it as important (and as much easy) as brushing teeth..

Achieving our dreams can be just like brushing our teeth. It wouldn’t feel good if we didn’t brush our teeth for a long time, would it? We wouldn’t spend hours thinking of which toothpaste to use or delay the good feeling of having clean teeth for other ‘priorities’. We feel uncomfortable if our teeth are not clean. So we just clean them!

Looking at our example, if giving is what we desire most, then we should ask ourselves a few questions: What if giving is truly as important as brushing one’s teeth? What if it is giving us a comfortable feeling? What if it aids in remaining healthy?

Irrespective of how much or how little we own right now, we surely can start offering it and sharing it today. As such, no matter how improbable the realisation of dreams might appear, we can start walking towards them today. We can definitely do, if we see it as a crucial issue, a top priority that we should stick to every day! Then we will be uncomfortable if we do not do it. Just like cleaning our teeth.

and Third: Give first, then we will get

When we start giving before we even have what we hope to get – that which we dream of – we are sending out a powerful message to ourselves which tells us, ‘there is enough, and more will come.’ It allows us to feel the joy today – the joy of giving.

If you want to be wealthy, be munificent. Then you are sure to be blessed with abundance. If you are intelligent enough to do so, do not hesitate to teach others. Then you will learn more. If you feel like giving, just give the whole of you. And do it without expecting anything in return. Just let go. The act of giving is its own reward. The simple satisfaction of giving.

So do not be hesitant to dole out and share what you have, for it will not prevent you from achieving your purpose, whatever it is. It will only help you to realise your dreams more easily. And your journey through that path would be full of joy.

But are not habits smaller, in comparison with our BIG dreams?

Just do it, don’t be concerned about the ‘scale’

Anything can happen in life. Things may develop in a small way. And these small things might take us to another action, and that will connect to another. The sureness we feel about our actions, and managing them one by one, keeps on taking us forward. But if we think that it is not possible to do something now, just because it is a little formidable, it simply will not happen.

The power to achieve one’s dreams has always been there, and will always be there. Those who have managed wonders, sensations, and real joy, already know this. They go on using it.

Visions and miracles do not happen accidentally. We choose to create them.

So, would you probably start going towards your dreams today?
